CATAPULT: #Time2ShineIn20-1-9!!

Last year, my motto was #MakeIt20GR18 (MAKE IT 20 GREAT TEEN), and that proved to be a winning formula for sports success in the James household!! Our Ragin’ Cajuns Men’s Basketball Team won their first ever Sunbelt Conference Championship!! The Red Sox won their 4th World Series in 15 years, and our New Orleans Saints are on a roll to repeat a Superbowl run!!

As we move into 2019, we can stall and sit on our laurels, or we can move forward with continued success to meet, greet, and beat all our challenges!! The key to moving forward is to create a “full speed ahead” mentality. By embracing a #Time2ShineIn20-1-9 (TIME TO SHINE IN TWENTY-ONE NINE) attitude, you will CATAPULT your career with confidence!!

C – Change the way you receive negativity!! Make a conscious effort to hear and act upon negativity differently!! Take mental note before entering every situation, and shield yourself from the negativity. With practice, this can definitely make a huge difference!!

A – Acknowledge that you aren’t perfect at everything!! Instead, embrace what you ARE great at, and move forward from there!! If you’re not designated as a “starter” in your career, but are a great support (or off the bench) player, embrace your talents and move forward with ease!! You are an important contribution to the team!!

T – Take inventory of your knowledge. Update your résumé & LinkedIn profile. Then, share your knowledge (skills, expertise, etc.) with others. When you share yourself with others, you will gain 10-fold!! This is true in your career and in life!!

A – Accept gifts that come your way. Perhaps you just received a new account that seemingly came from nowhere!! Great things happen to, based on what you give out to others!! Remember, you are loved by countless others, so gifts sometimes appear from thin air when you least expect them and/or when you need them the most!!

P – Put others first!! It’s easy to focus on yourself when it comes to career, so try lifting someone else up in their career!! When you build someone else up, it will get noticed!! Have faith and keep moving others to success!!

U-Unite with others in your career. Maybe you work with a team of professionals, so this will be easy!! And if you work in a one-person office, perhaps this can be the year that you reach out to find other colleagues around the globe with whom you can share common problems, issues, and solutions!! If you’re lonely in a career … there are surely others in your same shoes!! Think out of the box and research to find like-minded colleagues!! Together, we are all stronger!!

L-Let disappointment roll off your back!! This is such a difficult concept for most people, because those with big hearts are constantly disappointed!! However, if you can develop amnesia about things that don’t SEEM to go your way on the job, it will be much easier to embrace the victories!!

T-Think things through this year!! If you’ve got a great idea about a new business, now is the time to plan and execute that dream!! If you have not experienced a great deal of success lately, rethink and reevaluate what and how you think about things. When your thoughts are positive, your actions will follow!! Now CATAPULT that career to great success!!
